Every major enterprise has a labour social council. The corporate Norilsk Nickel labour social council represents 60,000 workers employed in Norilsk and the Taimyr Dolgan-Nenets municipal district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The Kola Mining and Metallurgical Company’s labour social council protects the interests of 81% of workers and represents the labour social councils of every enterprise subdivision.

Social labour relations are regulated at enterprises by collective decision-making bodies: the Collective Employment Agreement, the Labour Dispute Commission, the Social Grant Commissions/Committees, and the Commissions for Social Insurance and Labour Protection.

Social labour relations at Russian-based enterprises are subject to the Russian federal legislation and formalised in local bylaws and collective employment agreements valid for all employees of the relevant enterprises.

Trade unions based on social partnership principles are active at the overseas enterprises in Botswana, South Africa and Finland. The parties’ relations are subject to the host country’s trade union legislations and base on collective agreements regulating the various aspects of labour relations.
