Awards and achievements

Corporate Management

  • Norilsk Nickel has been identified as a transparency leader among Russian companies in Transparency International’s rating of the 100 fastest growing companies based on 16 developing markets (Transparency International is a global coalition against corruption).
  • Norilsk Nickel was ranked fifth in the “Most Valuable Russian Brands” 2013 rating of the Interbrand Agency. The list includes brands created in Russia that have positive annual financial results and present the most transparent and full financial and marketing data.
  • A Norilsk Nickel video campaign titled “Our Metals” won in the Marketing Communication category and received a Silver Dolphin prize at the Fourth International Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards Festival.
  • Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors, Deputy Director-Genera for cooperation with government agencies and the investment community of OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel Andrei Bugrov won the VIII National Director of the Year Prize in the Independent Director category. The award organisers were the Association of Independent Directors and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs in partnership with PwC and the Moscow Stock Exchange.

Economic Performance

  • Norilsk Nickel won a prize in the “Best Foreign Supplier of Surface Treatment Feedstock” category at the Tenth Chinese International SF EXPO CHINA 2013.
  • Norilsk Nickel was named as a leader among real sector companies in the TOP-50 rating of Russia’s innovative companies drawn up by the Institute of Socioeconomic Modernisation (ISEM).

Credit Ratings

In April 2013, Fitch Ratings confirmed MMC Norilsk Nickel’s long-term issuer default rating (IDR) at “BB+” with a reassessment of its rating outlook from “Stable” to “Positive.” The agency also confirmed the Company’s senior unsecured rating at “BB+” and short-term IDR at “B.”

In October 2013, Standard & Poor’s reassessed the rating outlook for MMC Norilsk Nickel from “Negative” to “Stable” and confirmed the Company’s long-term corporate rating at “BBB-”, and according to the Russian national scale, at “ruAA+.”

Social Responsibility and Performance

  • Norilsk Nickel won the RUIE “Best Russian Enterprises. Dynamics, Performance, Responsibility – 2012” competition in a special category, “For Family, Motherhood and Childhood Support Programmes.”
  • Norilsk Nickel ranked third in the “Best Company for Work and Career–2013” rating and was the only mining and metallurgical company represented in the employer rating according to the rabota.ru website and Elite Personnel newspaper.
  • Norilsk Nickel improved its ranking in Universum’s The World’s Most Attractive Employers rating and retained the title of best employer among mining and metallurgical companies. Norilsk Nickel ranks 13th in the Technical Specialisations vector, 27th in the Information Technology sector, and 28th in the Business and Economy vector.
  • Norilsk Nickel was among the top ten in the general ranking of the “Leaders of Corporate Charity” project at the end of 2012, which is put together every year by the Russian Donors Forum Non-Profit Partnership of Grant-Making Organisations, the Vedomosti newspaper, and PwC, a multinational professional services network. According to the contest results, Norilsk Nickel second in the Regional Companies subranking.
  • The Zapolarny Branch of MMC Norilsk Nickel won the annual territorial review contest in the Krasnoyarsk Territory Organisation of High Social Performance and Best Achievements in Social Partnership Development category among industrial enterprises.
  • Kola MMC won the All-Russian Contest on Occupational Safety for the best innovative solution for Occupational Safety conditions “Health and Safety 2013”.
